Vitamin A
Summer fruits are right around the corner and mouths are watering just thinking about the fresh flavors! However, these refreshing treats not only taste good, but provide many beneficial nutrients, too! Vitamin A is in the spotlight thanks to some of these fresh fruits.
Vitamin A plays many key roles in staying healthy and feeling great! Its starring role is in vision and eye health, but it is also necessary for healthy skin and a strong immune system. Because of these major functions, it is important to incorporate vitamin A into a daily diet.
Some of the fresh fruits that will appear in Donegal’s cafeterias are sources of vitamin A. Cantaloupe is an excellent source of this key nutrient, while watermelon and plums also provide vitamin A. Other food sources of vitamin A include dairy products, sweet potatoes, carrots, and dark green leafy vegetables.

Keep an eye out for these fresh offerings and stay healthy for the summer adventures that are about to begin!
