Donegal School District utilizes a computerized debit system at all schools called E-Trition. The system allows you to place money "on account" and also ensures complete anonymity of free/reduced status students. You are not required to use the system, however, most parents and students find it very convenient. Cash is also accepted on a daily basis.
Commonly asked questions about the system include:
Q: How do I put money in my child's account?
A: We prefer payment by check (made out to Donegal School District, Food Service Department) especially for elementary students who could lose cash on their way to school. Please write the first and last name of your child in the memo section of the check.
Cash is also accepted. Place your payment in a sealed envelope marked "Cafeteria" with your child's name, grade and deposit amount on the front. Your child should deliver the payment to the cafeteria in the morning on the way to their classroom.
Q: How does my child access their account?
A: At our elementary schools, students give their name to a cashier who finds that name on a roster. Next to each child's name is a bar code representing the student I.D. number for the child. The cashier "scans" the bar code with an electronic scanner and the computer debits purchases from that account. At our secondary schools, students enter their unique PIN number into a PIN pad at the cashier station.
Q: Can my child only buy a school lunch with money on account?
A: No, breakfast or any a la carte item (such as an extra milk) can be debited from their account, as long as there are funds to cover the purchase. No "charging" is allowed for breakfast or a la carte items.
Q: if I have more than one child at different schools in the District, can I write one check to deposit into their accounts?
A: We can accept one check for multiple family members in the same school. However, if you have children at different schools, separate checks must be written for each school.
Q: How can I access account information?
A: All transactions are maintained in the E-Trition database. Call the Cafeteria Manager at your child's school for a "transaction report" for your child.

Donegal Junior High School: Kathy Suydam, 928-2917
Donegal Intermediate School: Kay Lambert 426-1454
Donegal Primary School: Dee Dennes, 492-1333
Q: What happens if there is money in my child's account at the end of the school year?
A: The balance in every student account (whether positive or negative) follows them until they leave the District or graduate. Money left on account at the end of the school year is available at the beginning of the next school year. Refunds are provided only if a student is graduating or moves out of the district and makes a request for refund.
Q: Is there a way I can limit food/beverage purchases for my child?
A: You can contact the Cafeteria Manager at the school your child attends and place limits on your child's account. For example, you can request that your child's account be programed to allow a limit of $1.00 in a la carte purchases per day, or any amount you wish. The system will NOT allow you to limit specific food/beverage items, for example, no ice cream purchases allowed.
